Prayer results with EXPONENTIAL growth and REPLICATION

Over a year ago we did a podcast episode titled “How to release the viral replication ability of your gifts and talents” found on our podcast site www.africhristpodcast.com. In that episode we explored how God expects us to be productive with the gifts he endowed us with and that when we do, there is what we called a replication effect in productivity that leads to an exponential growth.

This current blog, is companion to a followup podcast of the same title, on that site and we recommend you visit and listen to it for a richer understanding.

The term replication implies an increase or multiplication of the same likeness or kind of certain defining characteristics of a thing. Simply, it means producing predictable results or outcomes.

As the process of replication takes place, another interesting phenomenon is simultaneously happening in a way that expands the effects of and rate of the replication process exponentially. In other words, there’s an acceleration taking place.

Population growth and loan or bank savings interest rates are examples of this process taking place in a mathematical manner.

Imagine now, how you can model these situations as examples and use the  exponential function to the expected results of your prayers. However you look at it not as a hard mathematical calculation but rather a function of your God given faith as expressed in scripture and Biblical history of events. Jesus many times would encourage the recognition of the presence of this exponential power within the person seeking help.

Example: Matthew 9:22 NLT

Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, “Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was healed at that moment.”

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:7 says that “we walk by faith not by sight” so our proof of concept is based on our God given walk of faith. In 1 Corinthians 10:13 God promises that the invasion of temptation will not overwhelm you.

1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”

Spiritually, sin or spiritual attacks tend to increase in an escalating manner. However, on the opposite side, spiritual good especially with the external intervention of prayer through faith, follows the same rule of exponential growth as well.

Let us look at an illustration that exemplifies the laws of exponential growth using an experiment involving bacterial growth. When infected, if your immune system does not kick in with a good defense, we all know that infections may overwhelm your body.  Without external intervention such as antibiotics, antivirals, or even surgery you get sick. That is because bacteria will grow exponentially very quickly.

The table below shows an experiment depicting and exponential growth in a bacteria colony in a lab. At intervals of 10 minutes the bacteria increases at a faster rate each period of 10 minutes. First by 54 then, 66, 81,99, 120, 147 and so on. If in a human body, soon the body may be overwhelmed. Sin is the same. First it’s small and maybe not obvious or is ‘acceptable”.

On the good side, God’s power is even much more potent and overwhelming to the spiritual issues or even physical issues we may face. That is our focus here.  Let us look at some of the “multiplier scriptures”

Joshua 23: 10 NIV

“But you are to hold fast to the Lord your God, as you have until now. “The Lord has driven out before you great and powerful nations; to this day no one has been able to withstand you. One of you routs a thousand, because the Lord your God fights for you, just as he promised.”  In other words, the power behind you. Is greater than the task ahead

Leviticus 26:7-8 NLT

You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you. Five of you will chase a hundred (that’s 20 per person) and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, ( that’s 100 per person.. a 5 fold increase) and your enemies will fall by the sword before you.

Deuteronomy 28: 7 NLT

The LORD will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven.

Deuteronomy 32:30-31 NLT

How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up? For their rock is not like our Rock, as even our enemies concede.

Prayer and the Word together is the “double barrel engine or shotgun” behind spiritual replication.  The early church leaders  recognized this and acted accordingly thus avoided early stagnation and resulted in the exponential growth produced by evangelism.

Acts of the Apostles 6:2-7 NLT

“So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said, “We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program. And so, brothers, select seven men who are well respected and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will give them this responsibility. Then we apostles can spend our time in prayer and teaching the word.Everyone liked this idea, and they chose the following: Stephen (a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit), Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas of Antioch (an earlier convert to the Jewish faith). These seven were presented to the apostles, who prayed for them as they laid their hands on them. So God’s message continued to spread. The number of believers greatly increased in Jerusalem, and many of the Jewish priests were converted, too.”

Answers to prayer exponentially grow when our faith is mixed with the Word of God

This fact is noted in the Book of Hebrews.

Hebrews 4:2 NKJV

For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.

This scripture explains that even though some people may be Believers, if they do not combine the Scriptures they believe with their faith, it does not profit them. Exponential growth is actually driven by the combination of faith and scriptures. So the key is for one to ask the Holy Spirit for guidance as to what scriptures are pertinent or needed for a particular situation.

God’s Word is true and proven. There are more scriptures for you to explore and use in your prayer life for results that that are guaranteed when you Pray With Impact.

The graphic below depicts the mixing of the Word of God with resulting action such as in Joshua 23:10 and Leviticus 26:7-8
